How to Learn American English Intonation Patterns

How to Learn American English Intonation Patterns

Even if you pronounce all of your vowel and consonant melody-intonationsounds clearly, you won’t necessarily be a great speaker.

In order to communicate effectively you must speak using the correct intonation patterns.

Without intonation, your speech patterns may sound rather neutral (or even abrupt) to American listeners.

Your real personality won’t shine

• You may be the most enthusiastic person on your team, but if you fail to speak with intonation, you won’t come across as enthusiastic.

• You may be a very friendly person, but if you fail to speak with intonation, you won’t come across as friendly.

• You may be a very interesting person, but if you fail to speak with intonation, you won’t come across as interesting.

People won’t know who you really are.

When you learn and apply the correct intonation patterns, you’ll sound more friendly, enthusiastic and interesting!
