To the American listener Korean spoken English sounds rather flat or monotone. It doesn’t have a good melody. ♬

This happens because the Korean language does not use syllable stress or word stress like we do when we speak North American English.

The lack of syllable stress and word stress makes it very difficult for American English speakers to understand what Korenas are saying.

Native English speakers expect to hear prominent syllables and words when they listen to others speak. ☺

If they don’t hear stressed syllables and content and focus words, they get bored and tune out because they can’t get the meaning. ☹

If you are a Korean speaker who wants to improve the way you speak English, try to focus on learning to use syllable stress and sentence stress patterns.

Taking an American accent audio course is an excellent and convenient way to learn these key skills for clear spoken English.

It is difficult to learn to use American style stress patterns without some instruction. I know because I teach people these skills all the time in my Courses.

Invest in yourself and buy a book or take a course. You will be glad that you did!
