Reindeer or rain, dear?
A fundamental rule for speaking clear American English is to use the correct syllable stress.
Compound nouns, such as REINdeer, need to be stressed on the first syllable.
Say the vowel sound in the first syllable with pitch emphasis.
This will make the word REINdeer sound clear and correct.
